The Awards
From the everyday sounds that encapsulate the events of the past twelve months to the year’s most innovative and creative sound technology, the Sound of the Year Awards celebrates sound in all its forms and from all corners of the world.
Judged by a panel of leading lights from the international sound community, the winner of each category will receive a basicUcho high-quality omni-directional microphone, courtesy of LOM, a minimalistic mount made by Radius
and a Bubblebee Industries windkiller.
The winner of the Sound of the Year category will also receive the Weaver by Fieldtone instruments – a handheld audio sampler that takes any sound and immediately produces rhythmical loops and evolving textures.
Category partners this year include: Accidental, Cities & Memory, Earth Day, Earthsonic, Science and Media Museum, Sound and Music, National Poetry Library and UK Hearing Conservation Association.
Media partners are Resonance and Electronic Sound.
